Music: Simple Gifts by Yo-Yo Ma
Today I woke up around 10:30 and made a cake for the potluck tomorrow. It should be yummy. Lemon with Loganberry jam filling. Then I ran to the bank and bought a card for Cheryl and then picked up the pictures I bought from Zac. They’re wonderful. I can’t wait to see them framed and arranged how I planned them. Then home to put the cake together and a quick shower before picking Mike up to go to Cheryl’s wedding. It was beautiful. They had it by the college cabin facing the dam. The reception was in a tent on the college cabin lawn. I got to see Andrea B. She asked me about my wedding…. I hadn’t told someone about the break up in a while, and it was nice to see the change in how I felt when I told someone for the first time. Jesse did me a great service when he broke off our engagement. I also realized that the wedding would have been a week from today. Weird. So after the wedding Mike and I went to Kolh’s and Bath and Body Works followed by dessert at the Bluegill. They’ve been open one year today! Then back to Mike’s while I waited for Carla to call me to tell me how to get to Megan’s so I could meet up with them. They were having their “bachelor” and “bachelorette” parties tonight, but together, and also about 3 weeks early…. kind of strange, but that works. We had pizza at Megan’s new house and then went out to Fiddler’s Hearth in South Bend. There was a live band for the first hour or so. I enjoyed the music. I was ready to leave alot sooner than we did finally at almost 2, but I had left my car at Megan’s, but that was ok, I tend to roll with the punches well like that. I had a really interesting discussion about Iraq and Guantanamo Bay with Leanne’s husband on the ride home. It was refreshing to meet someone with different views than mine who actually seemed to know what he was talking about, and wasn’t completely blind. He definitely thought that Iraq was mostly about oil, and didn’t have delusions about “freeing the Iraqi people”, but he also tended to believe different sources of information than I did. One thing that he said that I felt was very wrong was that I shouldn’t believe the BBC. I had trouble swallowing that one. But anywho, it’s almost 3. I’m going to bed.
